Starting With the End: Why Zenarate Rebranded

Over the last few years, Zenarate has changed. We've added products, acquired companies, changed what we measure, and grown. At some point the gap between what the brand said and what the company actually does got wide enough that it was time to do something about it. Today's rebrand helps our story reflect where the product is now and, more importantly, what our partnerships with customers have become.

The path here has been an interesting one, particularly for a company that pioneered AI Coaching almost a decade ago, before most people had a name for it. Back when I was an early-stage founder competing with Zenarate at Bright, I *hated* that Zenarate was the original AI Coach. Now that we’ve merged – of course – I love it.

Both companies started with a simple mission: help the human thrive. Everything we built for the first several years followed from that. Give a new agent a place to practice before they're in front of a customer. Make the person on the frontline more capable, more confident, and less likely to burn out.

So when we sat down a couple of years ago to decide how to invest in AI Agents, it was more than a roadmap question. It was a meta question about who we were. We had spent years building a company that helped humans thrive on the frontline. Now we were looking at a technology that, in some cases, replaces them.

We had two takeaways from that discussion.

First, that the latest AI technology was compelling and unavoidable. Pretending otherwise would not have protected a single frontline job. Given that, the most useful thing we could do was to be in it — thoughtfully, and with the same standards we'd been applying to humans for a decade. We launched Evolve shortly afterward.

Second, if we were going to do this, we had to do it holistically. The frontline is no longer a room full of people. It's people and AI agents. A single customer's experience over time is now a series of exchanges with both. And a single employee’s experience over time is now augmented and evolving because of AI. We observed that too many companies brought up the human experience as an afterthought. To stay true to our original mission we had to build solutions that would help humans + AI effectively work as one.

Once we accepted that, a lot followed.

The way you enable and engage humans should connect directly to how you build and optimize AI Agents. The reverse is just as true. The behaviors that make a great human interaction are the behaviors you should be evaluating your AI agents against. The failure patterns your AI agents surface at volume are exactly what your human coaching program should be working on next. We envisioned a system where both systems learn from the other.

One platform for the human and AI frontline became the clear answer.

The other theme was more familiar, and something that we’d seen time and again in the AI Coaching world.

To close the loop on customer experience, you need a true north. And for much of the industry, the assumed true north has been quality assurance scorecards. We released a powerful AutoQA capability several years ago and it remains foundational to what we do.

But along the way it became clear that QA is not the answer. A scorecard tells you whether an interaction complied with what you said you wanted. It doesn't tell you much about the customer experience over time.

There’s a similar dynamic with AI Agents. So much of the industry talks about containment rates. A customer can be both “contained” and “unhappy.”

So Close the Loop - the inspiration behind our new logo - means starting with the end.

The “big” loop is the customer journey. Not just one call, but their experience with your brand over time. To close the loop you have to find friction, figure out which behaviors actually move the needle, and then fix it.

Inside it are "small" loops that represent each human associate or AI Agent delivering that customer journey. Identifying the skill or behavior that's holding them back, targeting a fix, and then proving the ROI of that fix is key.

This isn’t just a metaphor. It's a description of how the Zenarate platform now works, and of what our best customer relationships look like.

The new brand reflects how aspirational this journey has been, and the impact we've increasingly been making alongside our customers. We've gone from a company helping one person get better at one conversation to a company helping enterprises deliver one standard of excellence across every interaction, whether the person on the other end of it is human or not.

We're glad to finally look like the company we've become.
